FAQs

Is there an Adult Guidance Service provided to VTOS participants in Further Education Colleges (FE colleges)?

VTOS participants attending FE colleges would normally have access to a guidance counsellor within that college.  In some ETBs, however, dispersed VTOS participants do not have such access.  In these circumstances, adult guidance is normally available to these clients through locally agreed procedures.

How is the Back to Education Initiative (BTEI) particularly beneficial?

This initiative was set up to make further education more accessible to groups who are educationally disadvantaged and specific groups are targeted and given priority of access to the programme.  The BTEI provides part-time educational opportunities which are often more suitable for adults who may have family and work commitments to consider. The programme also provides an opportunity for Adult Guidance Services to offer group guidance to adults included in this target group.
